Meeting venue and travel
CFA
  • The meeting will take place in the city of Huangshan, which is a tourist city with long history and cultures, with easy access to the scenic spots here.
Weather
  • The weather in Huangshan city during the meeting will be fine and warm, but for Yellow Mountain (Mt.Huangshan) it is uncertain and variable. Within a day, it can be sunny, cloudy and foggy. We suggest you take an umbrella and/or raincoat and thick shirts with you even if it's a sunny day forecasted.
Transportation
  • Travel to Huangshan is easy, there are frequent flights, trains and buses from a number of major cities (Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong) to Huangshan. For foreign tourists, the best way to get to Huangshan is by flight. Huangshan Airport is situated in the west suburb of Tunxi of Huangshan city, 71 km from Mt. Huangshan scenic area. You can find detailed information of flight, train, bus schedules, prices etc. here.

By plane: You fly into Tunxi airport (airport code TXN) in Huangshan. There are daily flights to TXN from big cities such as Shanghai, Beijing and Hong Kong. The closest is Shanghai (about one hour). There are at least one daily flight from Shanghai (PVG) to TXN (Flight number: FM9265, 20:35 -> 21:45), on Mondays, there is an extra flight (MU5563, 20:40 -> 21:55). The one-way airfare is about RMB 580 (excluding fee) (or about $75). If you plan to stay in Shanghai for a few days, you can easily buy ticket in Shanghai (e.g. in your hotel) . From outside China, you may also book the flight ticket in advance through a travel agency or online. To get information on national flights within China, or book plane tickets, a best site to go is (ctrip.com). To book domestic plane tickets from Ctrip, you can register and login, and use your credit card to hypothecate. On arriving the Chinese airport, such as Shanghai PVG airport, you can take your tickets, and pay them by cash. Another site (Travel China Guide) is also good. For international flights, see standard sites such as (Expedia.com).
By Train: If you arrive in Shanghai, it may be convenient (and cheaper) to take a train to Huangshan (one-way hard sleeper RMB 170, soft sleeper RMB 260, approximately). It is an overnight train, and allows for comfortable rest. It leaves Shanghai train station at 10:02 pm, arriving in Tunxi 8:50 am the next day. You can buy train ticket while in Shanghai (e.g. through your hotel). For people from outside China who prefer to travel by train and who arrive in Shanghai on 6/30 or 7/1, the LOC may help book train tickets from Shanghai to Tunxi in advance if there is a great need for it from the participants (this can be done a few weeks before the travel date). To get more information on train travel in China, please visit (Chinese Train Homepage) or (Travel China Guide).
